Biography

Dr. Johnsee Lee is the founder, President and CEO of Personal Genomics, Inc. He held various technical and managerial positions at Argonne National Laboratories, Johnson Matthey Inc. and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI).

Dr. Lee has many years of hands-on experiences in both frontier technology research and industrial commercialization. He received a Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology, and an MBA from University of Chicago. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.

After joining ITRI, Dr. Lee worked his way up from a lab manager to become the President of the Institute, and played a key leadership role in the development of Taiwan’s world-class high-tech industry. He was the first Director and founder of the Biomedical Engineering Center at ITRI. His technical expertise covers chemical, biochemical and molecular technologies.

Dr. Lee is specialized in multidisciplinary technology integration, and has successfully led exploratory research team to develop and commercialize novel technologies for healthcare applications. During his tenure as the President of ITRI, he has created 16 high-tech start-ups and actively supported them with institute's incubation and venture programs.

Dr. Lee has published many journal papers and patents. He is an Adjunct Professor at Taipei Medical University, Chairman for the Development Center for Biotechnology in Taiwan, and Director of the Board of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). Dr. Lee is the recipient of National Engineering Medal, Economics Contribution Award, and Innovation Leadership Award by the Global Views Magazine.
