Pablo Hernandez-Varas

Pablo Hernandez-Varas’ career has been linked to microscopic imaging in different ways. His postdoctoral research got Pablo to learn about live-cell imaging and Nobel-prize winning super-resolution techniques at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. After joining Nikon Instruments, Pablo specialized in Structured Illumination (SIM). SIM is a very smart way of increasing image resolution by a factor of 2x, opening up the possibility of imaging biological processes beyond the diffraction limit by projecting a illumination pattern onto the samples. As well as on SIM, Pablo’s interests are focused of super-resolution imaging techniques applied to challenging biological questions.
