Biography
Žiga Avsec is a research scientist at DeepMind, where he leads the genomics initiative within DeepMind’s Science program. He obtained his PhD from the Technical University of Munich, where he developed Kipoi and BPNet, innovative tools that advance our understanding of DNA sequences and transcription factor binding. Joining Google DeepMind, Avsec continued his exploration of genomics, contributing to projects such as Enformer and AlphaMissense, aimed at revolutionizing disease detection through AI-driven genomics analysis.
