Event Dear participant of the Innovation & Business summer school 2026,Coming up with good ideas is hard, but convincing others to invest in them is even harder. You’ll need an innovative idea, a strong Intellectual Property basis and a good pitch that persuades, excites and wins over potential investors.Because you might already have a business idea in mind, we would like you to submit a short abstract describing the concept and potential applications. You can start from your own research project, an idea you borrowed from your colleague or just a crazy thought. Based on those abstracts, we will select 5 - 6 ideas to work on during the course. These will be presented briefly on the first day of the course and participants will work in separate groups to finetune a startup pitch around these ideas.During the Innovation & Business summer school, you will be given the tools to find out if someone else has already patented your idea or which IP is in scope of your business plan. We will also give you tips and tricks on how to structure your case and convince investors with a good pitch. You’ll be able to put your newly acquired skills into practice during an interactive pitching exercise on Friday in front of a panel consisting of VIB’s Innovation & Business team and guests from Venture Capital. The deadline for the submission of your innovative business concept is 7 August 2026.
