The scientific community is gearing up for the 4th Day of Intravital Microscopy, an annual conference organized by the “Intravital Microscopy” team of GerBI-GMB e.V., in partnership with the Intravital Imaging Expertise Center of the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Cancer Biology. Set to take place on November 13–14, 2024, in Leuven, Belgium, this year’s event promises to bring together leading researchers and industry experts to explore cutting-edge developments in intravital imaging technology.
Intravital microscopy has emerged as a critical tool in modern biomedical research, offering spatiotemporal insights into cellular processes in living tissues. This technique is particularly valuable for understanding dynamic events in disease settings, such as cancer, metabolic and neurological disorders, immunological dysfunctions, and infectious diseases, as well as normal biological development. The technology allows researchers to observe and quantify these processes in real-time, offering a level of resolution and detail that other imaging techniques cannot achieve.
The focus of this year's edition
The conference will feature a broad spectrum of intravital imaging applications, novel techniques, and instruments. One of the event's main goals is to facilitate skill-sharing among participants, emphasizing fostering collaborations between academia and industry. Attendees will be able to learn about novel discoveries enabled by intravital imaging and discuss ethical considerations associated with the technology. The Early Bird deadline for this event is 30 September.
A highlight of the event is the focus on early-career researchers. These young scientists can present their work, network with established experts, and gain valuable insights that could shape their careers. The abstract deadline is 16 September.
Following the leading conference, a separate training day, the VIB Training Day in Intravital Microscopy, will occur on November 15, 2024. This workshop will offer hands-on experience and deeper insights into intravital microscopy, ensuring that participants leave with theoretical and practical knowledge.
The 4th Day of Intravital Microscopy is expected to further drive advancements in disease research, strengthening intravital imaging's role as an indispensable tool in modern biomedical science.
