After the success of the VIB meeting “Macrophage Biology in the Single-Cell Era" in October 2017, we are pleased to announce the second edition of this event which will be held in conjunction with the 36th edition of the European Macrophage and Dendritic cell Society (EMDS) meeting. EMDS@VIB2023 will be organized in De Bijloke in Ghent, a 13th-century architectural marvel in the historical center of Ghent.
A packed program filled with leading scientists
This 3-day conference will focus on multiple aspects of Dendritic cell and Macrophage biology in health and disease. The program will include invited speakers at the forefront of the mononuclear phagocyte field and plenty of opportunities for short talks for upcoming scientists.
Charlotte Scott (OC member and Group Leader at the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research): "With the EMDS@VIB meeting, we have focussed on having a good balance between established and new PIs. We have been able to attract an excellent group of speakers and are very much looking forward to this exciting program filled with many of the best macrophage and DC biologists in the world."

A recurring part of VIB Conferences are the selected talks and poster sessions. Giving upcoming scientists plenty of opportunity to show themselves to the international research community.
Charlotte Scott: "We have kept a number of slots for early career researchers and therefore encourage you all to submit an abstract. We have spaces for short talks, posters, and some quick-fire poster pitches which will occur just before the poster sessions in the main sessions so you can encourage everyone to come along to the poster. Don't forget there are also the annual EMDS Poster Prizes so don't hesitate to submit an abstract."
