Biography

Beatriz León Ruiz is a Senior Investigator and Head of the Innate Cells and Th2 Immunity Section (ICTIS) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), in Bethesda, USA. Her laboratory investigates the cellular and molecular pathways that regulate allergic inflammation and protective immunity at mucosal barrier sites. Dr. León Ruiz’s research focuses on dendritic cell–T cell interactions, macrophage diversity, and the role of tissue environments in shaping type 2 immune responses. Before joining the NIH, she trained at the Autonomous University of Madrid, the University of Rochester, NY, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she developed models to dissect innate–adaptive immune crosstalk in the lung, skin, and gut. Her work integrates in vivo modeling and high-dimensional immunoprofiling to uncover new therapeutic targets in allergy and immune regulation.
