Biography

Emily is a Junior Postdoctoral Fellow at Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London having previously worked as a postdoc in the lab of Dr. Gabriella Ficz. She has been using a novel form of CRISPR to rewrite the epigenetic code by targeting de novo DNA methylation to try and separate cause from consequence in abnormal epigenetic processes that occur in the early stages of breast cancer and has recently been awarded a Kay Kendall Leukaemia Fund Junior Fellowship to extend these findings to the haematopoietic system. She received her PhD from Bristol University in the lab of Professor Hans Reul’s Neuro-Epigenetics Research Group investigating DNA methylation changes that occur in the brain and drive stress-related learning and memory processes.
