Glen Gowers
Glen Gowers is the co-founder and CEO of Basecamp Research, based in London. Glen has a background in Engineering Biology (Oxford University, Imperial College, GSK). Glen spearheaded the first fully off-grid DNA sequencing expedition in polar regions with (his now co-founder) Oliver Vince, which led to the founding of Basecamp Research in 2020. Basecamp Research, based in London and Boston, has raised over $85M to fuel the single largest commercial biodiscovery program ever, now spanning more than 100 locations in over 20 countries worldwide. This unprecedented access to Earth's biodiversity is made possible by a new global partnership model and mutually beneficial financial mechanisms that sets a new standard for data traceability and equitable benefit sharing. Access to this database allows the company's foundational biological AI models to outperform across multiple protein design tasks, giving them unique access to intellectual property and solutions inaccessible to all others.
