Hilde Crevits

Vice-Minister-President of the Government of Flanders, Flemish Minister for Economy, Innovation, Work, Social economy and Agriculture, BE
Biography

Hilde Crevits was born and raised in Torhout. In 1990, she obtained a law degree at Ghent University, after which she began working as a lawyer. During this time, she was also a part-time assistant at the Department of Civil Law of the Law Faculty of Ghent University.
In 2000, her political career takes off. First as provincial councilor for West-Flanders, followed quickly by a role in the city council of Torhout with a focus on neighborhood and city center renewal, city heritage, energy and utilities, environmental management, and legal disputes
From 2004 to 2007, Hilde became Member of the Flemish Parliament for the constituency of the province of West Flanders. In 2007, she is elected as Flemish Minister of Public Works, Energy, Environment and Nature until 2009 when she began her journey as Minister of Mobility and Public Works.
When 2014 came around, she took on the responsibilities of Deputy Minister-President of the Flemish Government and Flemish Minister of Education, and in 2019 she was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister of the Flemish Government and Flemish Minister of Economy, Innovation, Work, Social Economy, and Agriculture and Sea Fisheries.
Beyond politics, Hilde loves sports. During her youth she had small (and bigger) successes on the sporting field. She still regularly puts on her sneakers, for example for a walk in the nearby forest 'Torhoutse Groenhovebos'.
