Imène Gasmi

Biography

Mrs. Imène Gasmi completed a Master’s degree in Immunology in Algeria, followed by a second Master’s degree in Cancer Biology in France. During the internship for the latter, she joined the team of Dr. Julie Pannequin, where she focused on cancer stem cells (CSCs) and their role in colorectal cancer (CRC). Mrs. Imène Gasmi, then pursued a PhD at the Biomedical Research Institute of Créteil (IMRB) in the team of Professor Jean-Michel Pawlotsky. Her doctoral work investigated the role of chronic inflammation in liver regeneration and tumor initiation. Following the PhD, Imène Gasmi joined the team of Pr. Vincent Castronovo and Dr. Akeila Bellahcène in Belgium at GIGA Cancer institute for a postdoctoral fellowship. There, he studied cancer progression mechanisms and the impact of glycation stress. Since 2021, Dr. Imène Gasmi is now a postdoctoral researcher in the team of Dr. Philippe Jay, where she explores the role of tuft cells in modulating immune responses during intestinal pathophysiology.
