Isabel Van Driessche
Isabel Van Driessche is professor at Ghent University, Belgium, since 2004. She is a member of the board of governors at UGent, VUB and VITO, chair of the examination board chemistry at UGent and member of the Industrial Research Fund Council at UGent. She is dean of the faculty of Sciences. Together with Prof. De Buysser, she leads the research group SCRiPTS. She is having activities in the broad field of solid state chemistry related to the synthesis, properties and applications of inorganic (ceramic) materials, both as bulk, nanomaterials and thin films. Current research topics include: Chemical Solution deposition (CSD, ink jet printing) of ceramics. Materials of interest : superconducting perovskites and buffer layers for production of coated conductors, titanates for (photo)catalytic and battery applications, low-E coatings. Formulation of environmentally friendly based inks. Use of bottom-up chemical synthesis approaches (hydrothermal, microwave-assisted, hot injection) for the synthesis of ceramic nanoparticles/suspensions.
The research group has a staff of appr. 10 PhD researchers, 2 technical engineers, together with 2 post-doc scientists and 2 professors. I. Van Driessche has coordinated about 70 national and international research projects (FWO, IWT, FP6-7, Horizon 2020, BOF, GOA..). More specifically, she has coordinated two European projects, “EFECTS” (8 partners, 3 MioEuro) and “Synfony” (5 partners, 600000 Euro) and co-coordinated “Eurotapes” as task force leader (20 partners, 12 MioEuro, coordinated by CSIC Barcelona). She is author of appr. 500 papers (Orcid ID: 0000-0001-5253-3325) (https://biblio.ugent.be/person/801000701083) of which 210 a1 peer reviewed, 70 conference proceedings and 160 conference abstracts and holds 7 patents. She is editor of the Journal of Alloys and Compounds.
