Biography
Dr. Jayaram Chandrashekar is a project scientist at HHMI’s Janelia Research Campus and leads the MouseLight Project Team. The MouseLight project generates data sets of whole mouse brains imaged at sub-micron resolution that allows reconstructions of complete axonal arbors of individual projection neurons across the entire mouse brain. He received his PhD degree at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, India. His post-doctoral research and subsequent work at University of California, San Diego was on mammalian taste and is a co-discoverer of many taste receptors. Dr. Chandrashekar has been leading the neuronal morphology efforts of the MouseLight project at Janelia since 2015.
