Jonathan Maelfait

Jonathan Maelfait received his PhD from the University of Ghent in 2011. He did his postdoctoral training in the lab of Jan Rehwinkel at the University of Oxford. In 2019, he became group leader at the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research in Ghent, Belgium. The lab focuses on understanding the functions of Z-nucleic acids and the Z-nucleic acid-binding proteins ZBP1 and ADAR1 in the context of antiviral defence and autoinflammation, and on investigating their potential applications in cancer therapy.
