Klaus Mayer is involved a range of bioinformatic analysis packages in national and international research consortia. His group has exhaustive and long-term experience in the analysis of plant genomes and the analysis of resequencing data and has been highly influential in pushing the analytical limits of modern plant genomics research. The main focus of the Research Unit for Plant Genome and Systems Biology (PGSB) is plant genome and systems-oriented bioinformatics. It has a focus towards analyzing genomic encryption, expression patterns, functional and systems biology of plants. Starting from Arabidopsis more than two decades ago he devoted his focus towards arrange of organisms and plant genomes. Most recently the main focus was devoted to cereal and other grass genomes as well as the systems behaviour during stress and development.
