Biography
Matthew DeLisa is the William L. Lewis Professor of Engineering in Cornell's Robert F. Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and director of the Cornell Institute of Biotechnology. His lab develops tools to understand and engineer protein biogenesis in living cells—spanning folding, membrane translocation, and post-translational modification—and applies bacterial machinery to design and manufacture biologics. He earned his B.S. (UConn) and Ph.D. (University of Maryland) in chemical engineering, followed by postdoctoral training at UT Austin, and is an AIMBE Fellow and recipient of honors including MIT Technology Review TR35 and the NSF CAREER award.
