Biography
Matthias Zilbauer is a paediatric gastroenterologist and researcher at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, University of Cambridge. His research focuses on how epigenetic mechanisms regulate intestinal epithelial stem cell function in health, development, and disease.
Using patient-derived intestinal epithelial organoids, his laboratory studies these processes to better understand conditions such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and support the development of new treatment approaches.
Alongside his research, Matthias remains actively involved in clinical practice, working to translate scientific insights into meaningful improvements in care for children with gastrointestinal conditions.
