Matyáš Fendrych
During his PhD in the Viktor Zarsky lab (IEB, Prague, Czechia) Matyáš studied plant secretory machinery and cytokinesis through the optics of the exocyst complex. Then, as a postdoc, Fendrych joined the laboratory of Moritz Nowack (PSB-VIB in Gent, Belgium) and focused on developmentally programmed cell death of lateral root cap cells in Arabidopsis thaliana. For the second postdoc he moved to the lab of Jiri Friml (IST, Austria) where he started his affair with auxin and its many effects on elongation of plant cells. In 2018 Fendrych established the research group at XPB, Prague. Matyáš enjoys combining the power of molecular biology and genetics with the spatio-temporal precision of live-cell imaging and genetically encoded fluorescent proteins and sensors.
