Michele Fabris

Michele Fabris is an Associate Professor at the Department of Green Technology of the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). Here, since 2021, he leads the Algae Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology Laboratory. His research focuses on understanding, redesigning, and engineering traits in algal cells to develop novel strains tailored to industrial needs, harnessing their genetic and biochemical potential for innovative environmental and industrial solutions. Michele holds a Master’s in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Bologna and a PhD in Biotechnology and Biochemistry obtained from Ghent University, in collaboration with the Flanders Institute of Biotechnology (VIB). Prior to joining SDU, he worked at the University of Technology Sydney (Australia) and the CSIRO Synthetic Biology Future Science Platform (Brisbane, Australia).
