Biography

Milton Boaheng Antwi, a Ghanaian, is a 4th-year FWO joint Ph.D. student at Karolien De Bosscher's lab VIB-CMB and Liver research Ghent Center, which comprises the Gut-Liver Immunopharmacology Unit and the Hepatology Research Unit. His pioneering research focuses on developing innovative ligand combinations targeting nuclear receptors to combat the pervasive challenges posed by Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
An unwavering commitment to excellence marks Milton's academic journey. He graduated top of his class with magna cum laude from The University of the Southern Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago, earning a bachelor's degree in Biology with biomedical emphasis and chemistry minor in 2016. Pursuing further academic pursuits, Milton obtained a Master's in Biomedicine from The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø where his research contribution was published.
Throughout his tenure in Belgium, Milton secured the Belgian Week Gastroenterology Research Grant in 2021 and won the best abstract at the Dutch Endocrine Meeting 2024. Notably, his research was honoured with the best poster presentation at the esteemed EASL International Liver Congress in Vienna in 2023. Currently, Milton's primary PhD research publication is under review.

Beyond his academic endeavours, Milton's multifaceted nature shines through. An accomplished musician, he adeptly plays various instruments, particularly the piano, and enjoys sharing his talents in mini-concerts. His passion for sports, including football and basketball, and his love for exploration through travel and intellectual stimulation through podcasts further enrich his vibrant personality.
