Biography
Motomasa Tanaka is the team director of the Protein Conformational Laboratory at RIKEN Center for Brain Science (CBS), Japan. After receiving his Ph.D. in molecular engineering from Kyoto University, he completed postdoctoral training at RIKEN Brain Science Institute (BSI) and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He has been a Principal Investigator at RIKEN BSI/CBS since 2006. Dr. Tanaka's laboratory aims to understand the molecular basis of abnormal protein synthesis (translation), folding, and aggregation, thereby elucidating the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders.
