Oana Ursu

Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, US
Biography

Oana Ursu has completed a B.S. in Computer Science and Molecular Biology at MIT, and a PhD in Genetics at Stanford University working with Prof. Anshul Kundaje, Prof. Michael Snyder and Prof. Michael Bassik, where she combined experiments with computational modeling to study gene regulation, with a focus on three-dimensional genome architecture and its role in control of gene expression.

Since 2018, Oana has been working as a postdoctoral associate with Prof. Aviv Regev. In her research, she uses genetic screens with multiple different readouts, such as gene expression and cell morphology to understand how cells make decisions, how perturbations affect distributions of cell states and how we can use information from such screens to understand the space of possible cell states and transitions between them.
