Paul Rothwell

Touchlight, UK
Biography

Paul graduated from the University of York with a BSc in Biochemistry and an MRes in Biomolecular Science. He studied for his Doctorate at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology working on the kinetic and biophysical characterisation of the viral DNA polymerase from HIV-1.

During his post-doctoral research at Birkbeck/UCL and Heinrich-Heine University in Dusseldorf he focused on the kinetic characterisation of DNA polymerases and the conformational dynamics of DNA repair and restriction enzymes.

Paul has worked for Touchlight since 2012, driving the transformation of the dbDNA technology from early-stage development of DNA manufacture. In his current role as VP of platform research, he oversees groups operating across a broad range of areas from improving core processes to developing new DNA products.
