Biography
Petra Bulankova was trained as a plant molecular biologist, with a focus on the regulation of the meiotic cell cycle during her PhD in the group of Karel Riha, and on epigenetics during a short postdoctoral period with Ortrun Mittelsten-Scheid, both at GMI in Austria.
In 2015, she started working on diatom cell biology during her postdoc with Lieven De Veylder at the VIB in Belgium and Simone Köhler at the EMBL in Germany. Since 2023, she has been a CNRS scientist in the Phytogenomics team at the Institute of Biology of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (IBENS). Her main research interests include the ability of diatoms to recombine homologous chromosomes in vegetative cells and their cell division process.
