Biography
Stéphanie De Vleeschauwer graduated as a vet from UGent, Belgium. After working as a small animal vet for a few years she started a PhD in the lab of pneumology at KU Leuven during which she developed a model of chronic rejection after lung transplantation in mice. After finishing her PhD, she moved to the lab of cardiac surgery in where she mainly worked with sheep. Since 2013 she is the designated vet of the Laboratory Animal Center of KU Leuven where different species are housed. She is also the animal welfare officer and a member of the institutional Ethics Committee. In 2016 she became a Diplomate of the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine after finishing her residency through the alternative route.
