Biography

Victor Wumbor-Apin Kumbol is a PhD Fellow at the Einstein Center for Neurosciences, Berlin, Germany. He received BPharm and MPhil Pharmacology degrees from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. His current research addresses questions about the molecular and cellular processes underlying neurodegeneration.

Beyond neuroscience, Victor is passionate about leveraging technology to impact society and has been working to promote open science hardware in Ghana. Victor started DIY Labware, a project to train scientists in Ghana to develop their own lab equipment using open science tools with funding from Mozilla. Through DIY Labware, Victor aims to tackle one of the biggest challenges to research in Africa - access to lab equipment. He bridges his interest in neuroscience and open hardware by developing open hardware equipment for neuroscience research.
