How to enter the virtual conference platform: Hopin

Hopin is a virtual venue with multiple interactive areas that are optimized for connecting and engaging. Attendees can move in and out of rooms just like an in-person event and enjoy the content and connections that's been set-up.

Please follow the next steps to get into the platform:

  1. Accept registration: You will receive an email from Hopin asking you to accept your registration. Please click on "Login & join event" anytime before the event starts. (Also check your Spam folder).
    • You might need to do a double authentication.
  2. Use Google Chrome. Hopin is unfortunately less supported by other browsers. Using another browser will result in not hearing or seeing everything. So using Google Chrome is an absolute must.
  3. Profile picture: Have a recent profile picture in place to complete your profile after you have accepted your registration.
  4. Add to your calendar: Add the event to your calendar. The link in your calendar invite will give you access to the event when it goes live.
  5. Enter the event: Enter the event via the link in your Hopin reminder email or via the link in your calendar invite

How to optimize your virtual conference experience?

  • Please use Google Chrome for streaming the conference (Internet explorer and Safari don't present all features Hopin available) and close all other internet browser tabs.
  • For the best streaming experience, it is better to use an internet cable instead of Wifi.
  • If you have access to a plug-in headset, use this one instead of a bluetooth headset. A bluetooth headset can result in malfunctions.
  • When you want to mute yourself, please click on the mute button in Hopin and not the mute button on your computer. Hopin overrides your sound settings of your computer.

For questions regarding the platform before entering, please email conferences@vib.be.

Mac user?

Don't forget to give Hopin permission for sharing audio, video/ screenshare in the settings of Google Chrome before you enter the platform. It’s best to use Google Chrome as the standard browser. (Click here for an example)
