As a strategic research center, VIB is contracted by the Flemish Government to deliver both scientific and economic outputs. To assess its impact, an independent analysis is conducted every five years, mapping both the quantitative and qualitative effects of VIB’s research and tech transfer efforts. This analysis examines key drivers of economic impact, including industry collaboration, start-up creation, and attraction of international funding. It also evaluates VIB’s broader societal contributions, highlighting how its activities generate meaningful benefits in healthcare, sustainable agriculture, and public engagement.
