Daniël Van Damme
Daniël Van Damme is a Professor at Ghent University and a Principle Investigator at the VIB Center for Plant Systems Biology in Belgium. He graduated from the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University and started his scientific career investigating plant cytokinesis and division plane orientation. Following the discovery of the endocytic TPLATE complex, he focused his research on elucidating the role of this multimeric protein complex in endocytosis and autophagy. Current research in the Van Damme lab is centered around membrane trafficking in plants and combines cell biological and biochemical/structural approaches.
Honors and awards include
PhD and two postdoctoral fellowships from the Research Foundation of Flanders
ERC LS3 Consolidator grant 2015
Areas of expertise
Live cell imaging, cytokinesis, protein-protein interactions, interactomics, proximity biotinylation, endomembrane trafficking, endocytosis.
