Despina Samakovli

Dr. Despina Samakovli has recently got a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has performed a PhD in Plant Biotechnology in the Department of Plant Molecular Biology in the Agricultural University of Athens. Later, she worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Cell Biology in the Palacky University of Olomouc in Czech Republic supported by a GACR grant. Then, she moved to Athens to work as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Molecular Biology in the Agricultural University of Athens. Her research aims to uncover the role of HSP90 molecular chaperones in the regulation of hormonal signaling pathways, especially Brassinosteroids, in the control of plant developmental processes under normal and stress conditions. In view of the ongoing climate change, understanding the molecular mechanisms governing plant adaptation in marginal environments is essential for food security.
