VIB Technologies, BE
Biography

A childhood computer and programming enthusiast, Frank obtained a MSc in Computer Science from Ghent University, and in Bioinformatics from KU Leuven. For years he worked as a software developer in a commercial company, focusing on physics-based modeling and on algorithmic problems in the 2D and 3D computer graphics fields. In 2016 he joined VIB, dividing his time between the Bioinformatics Core and Bioimaging Core facilities, working on topics such as user-friendly image restauration and registration of electron microscopy images, machine learning, and a wide range of image processing and analysis tasks for microscopy users. Via VIB's first imaging-based spatial proteomics platform operated by the Bioimaging Core, he got involved in spatial omics data analysis, and naturally joined the Spatial Catalyst when it was formed in 2023, to continue work on data analysis and development of analysis pipelines.
