Kenneth Murphy

Murphy grew up in Wichita Kansas where he met Theresa Malone in Sister Florella’s sophomore Latin class. They obtained MD and PhD degrees for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1984. After a residency in Pathology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Ken trained with Dr. Dennis Y Loh in molecular immunology and joined the Pathology Department in 1989. Theresa joined the lab in 1990 and they have worked since then on the 7th floor of the CSRB. Their work has contributed to understanding differentiation of CD4 T cells into functional subsets and more recently into how dendritic cells that control T cell differentiation themselves develop into functional subsets that can appropriately direct responses to diverse pathogens.
