Kenny Roose

VIB-UGent Center for Medical Biotechnology, BE
Biography

Kenny Roose obtained his PhD degree from the University of Ghent (Belgium) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Xavier Saelens in 2010. In his PhD, he investigated the possibility of designing a broad-acting Influenza B vaccine based on conserved epitopes of the virus. In further postdoctoral research, he explored the design and activity of different chemical, protein-based and immune-modulating molecules for the control of Influenza infections.

In 2018 he moved to the research group of Prof. Dr. Nico Callewaert, researching the effect of protein glycosylation on the efficacy of vaccine antigens. Currently, as protein technologist, he is involved in the design, production and testing of different (heavy-chain-only) antibody-based therapeutics to combat disease or viral respiratory infections such as caused by Influenza and Coronaviruses.
