Laurence Defrise

Defrise Laurence has more than 15 years of interdisciplinary experience in development projects covering project design, implementation and evaluation in Southern countries. She is by training an agronomist with a PhD in agricultural development and geography from ABIES AgroParisTech. She joined Enabel, the Belgian development Agency, in February 2020 as a climate smart agriculture expert. Prior to this appointment, she worked at the crossroad of development and research with international organizations (GIZ, CIRAD, EU projects), private foundations and NGO’s in Africa and South America. Her areas of expertise (based on fieldwork) include sustainable food system, agroecology, land tenure security, land use planning and climate adaptation. She (co-) authored several papers and manuals.
