Marco Cassano

Dr. Cassano brings more than 15 years of experience in the academic domain. As assistant professor at the University of Milan, he was responsible for university lecturing and life science research, leading the Unit of Cancer Epigenetics and Microbiota. Under his leadership, the team advanced the understanding on the gut-liver axis crosstalk, deciphering the epigenetic cues modulating the pro-inflammatory processes in polyphenic traits. Earlier in his career, he held a senior scientist position at the Swiss Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), under the supervision of Prof. Didier Trono. Dr. Cassano joined Lunaphore in 2020, where he now coordinates the activities of the Scientific Affairs Team, accountable for the development and execution of global scientific strategy for Lunaphore worldwide. This includes maximizing spatial biomarker adoption, generating scientific evidence, and leading KOL’s partnerships. His academic training in Biotechnology began at University of Milan-Bicocca, and continued throughout his joint PhD at University of Rome-La Sapienza and KU Leuven, thanks to a doctoral scholarship funded by the Italian Ministry of Health.
