Nikky Corthout

I was born in Herentals, Belgium in 1989 and studied pharmacy assistant and lab technologies. I did my bachelors internship in the lab of Wim Annaert (CBD-VIB Leuven) in collaboration with Sebastian Munck (VIB BioImaging Core Leuven). This developed into a permanent position as lab technician at first and as a microscopist in the imaging core later on.

I’m working at the facility for over 14 years and watched it grow from a one man show to the team we currently have. The long time here gave me the opportunity to grow with the core from a layman into an experienced light microscopist and I’m still learning every day. The large size of our microscopy park provides me with a multitude of challenges that ensures every working day is different and never boring.
