Wouter De Broeck

Wouter De Broeck worked for years as a freelance journalist, writing on topics such as energy, environment, migration, and sustainability. He has published several short stories in Flemish literary magazines, fictionizing the same topics. In 2017 he switched from written to applied sustainability after having obtained an MA in Environmental Management and Economics with a with a thesis on Crowdfunding for renewable energy projects. For six years he worked as a sustainability manager at global producer of workwear and protective garments. As recently appointed sustainability coordinator at VIB he will focus on bringing people together in targeted actions. First tasks ahead include conducting a carbon accounting and setting Science Based Targets. As well as guide the organization in conducting a materiality assessment, determining sustainability objectives, setting up relevant actions, guiding annual sustainability reporting towards CSRD compliance. At VIB he is a part of the operations team. He can build on the grassroots enthusiasm of the center eco teams and he works in good collaboration with the center managers, HR, finance, communications, innovation&business and the top management.
