The first edition of the Medical Biotechnology conference took place on 24-25 May in the historic city of Ghent, to be precise in the beautiful venue of the Aula of the Ghent University. The conference covered a wide range of topics such as diagnostics & biomarkers, targeted delivery, biopharmaceutical technology and vaccines.

On 11-13 September 2018 the Ghent University and VIB are organizing the ‘Plant Protease and PCD Symposium’ conference. After three successful conferences on Plant Proteases and Programmed Cell Death organized in Hemavan, Sweden (2011); Barcelona, Spain (2013); and Oxford, UK (2016), it is our pleasure to host the fourth meeting in the beautiful medieval town of Ghent, Belgium.

The Medical Biotechnology conference is approaching and we are looking forward to this first edition which will take place on 24-25 May in Ghent. We are very excited to kick-start this first edition in the medical biotechnology field of many more to come.

After two successful editions of the CTLS conference (at Institut Pasteur, Paris in 2014 and at EMBL, Heidelberg in 2016), VIB is honoured to organize the 2018 conference in the beautiful and historic city of Ghent.

VIB is organizing the first edition of Medical Biotechnology on 24-25 May 2018 in Ghent. We would like to invite junior scientists to showcase their own research to the international research community during the poster sessions at the conference. The best abstracts will be selected for a presentation! Abstracts can be submitted until 26 March 2018 via the website.

On 8-9 March 190 scientists gathered in the Irish college in Leuven to attend 22 inspiring talks. The speakers gave a broad view on the application of bioinformatics in life sciences today and the future challenges.

Last week 270 scientists gathered in the beautiful Bruges for the 3rd edition of the Genome Engineering and Synthetic Biology conference.
